In short

The best routes to reliable suppliers in the UAE are referrals from businesses like yours, supplier networks where suppliers are verified, trade shows in Dubai such as Gulfood, Big 5 Global and INDEX, chambers of commerce, and targeted searches on Google Maps and LinkedIn. Whatever the source, shortlist three to five suppliers who hold the right licence and deliver to your locations, check each one's trade licence and VAT registration, and ask them all to quote on the same request.

Start with a clear brief

Before you look, write down what you need in a few lines: the item and its specification, the usual quantity per order, how often you buy, where it must be delivered, how fast, and any standards it has to meet, such as food-grade materials or fire ratings. A clear brief makes every conversation shorter and stops you shortlisting suppliers who were never a fit.

Where to look

Referrals

Businesses like yours are the fastest source. Ask peers, landlords, fit-out contractors and your current suppliers who they use. A referral comes with a track record you can ask about.

Supplier networks and directories

Online supplier networks let you search by category and delivery area. Prefer networks that check documents and show how suppliers have performed, not only paid listings. The Korrway supplier network, for example, shows whether each supplier is verified and which tier they have earned from real work.

Trade shows

Dubai hosts some of the largest trade shows in the region, where you can meet many suppliers in a day and see samples. Examples include Gulfood for food and beverage, Big 5 Global for construction and building materials, INDEX for interiors and fit-out, The Hotel Show for hospitality and GITEX for technology. Check each show’s website for dates.

Chambers of commerce and associations

Chambers of commerce, such as Dubai Chambers and the Abu Dhabi Chamber, and sector associations can point you to established member companies.

Search and maps

Search for the item and the city on Google and Google Maps. Look for a real address, recent reviews and a website that matches the trade name. For everyday goods, wholesale and trading districts such as Deira in Dubai are worth a visit.

LinkedIn

Useful for finding the right person at larger suppliers and manufacturers, and for checking that a company and its people are real.

Global marketplaces

If you import, global B2B marketplaces give access to manufacturers abroad. Prefer verified manufacturers, order samples first, and plan for shipping, customs and quality checks.

Local supplier or import?

Local supplierImporting directly
Unit priceHigherOften lower at volume
Minimum orderSmall orders possibleOften high minimum order quantities
Lead timeDaysWeeks, plus shipping and customs
VAT and dutyVAT on the local invoiceCustoms duty on arrival; import VAT through your VAT return if registered
Returns and fixesEasySlow and costly
Best forUrgent, small and varied ordersLarge, repeat, predictable volumes

Customs duty on most goods imported into GCC countries is 5% of their value under the common external tariff, but rates vary by product, so check the tariff code for what you are buying. Many businesses use local suppliers for urgent and varied orders and import only their highest-volume items.

Build a shortlist

From your long list, keep three to five suppliers who meet the basics:

  • Their trade licence covers the activity you are buying.
  • They deliver to all your locations, in the quantities you need.
  • They hold any certificates your sector requires.
  • They reply within a working day and answer questions clearly.
  • They can give you two references from customers similar to you.

Check before the first order

Before you pay a new supplier, confirm the company is real and properly registered: check the trade licence on the National Economic Register (or with the free zone authority), the TRN with the Federal Tax Authority, and the bank details on letterhead. The steps are in how to verify a supplier in the UAE. For a new supplier, a small trial order is cheap insurance.

Get comparable quotes

Ask every supplier on the shortlist to quote on the same request, line by line, by the same deadline. That turns a pile of different price lists into a fair comparison. See how to run an RFQ and how to compare supplier quotes.

Finding suppliers on Korrway

Korrway brings the search, the checks and the quotes into one place. Buyers search the Korrway supplier network by category, the countries a supplier delivers to, where they are based, their tier and whether they are verified. A Verified badge means Korrway has reviewed the supplier’s trade licence and TRN. Tiers from Bronze to Platinum are earned from response rate, on-time delivery, awards and buyer ratings. Add a supplier to your list, invite them to an RFQ alongside the suppliers you already use, and compare every quote line by line. See how finding suppliers on Korrway works.

Questions

Where can I find verified suppliers in the UAE?

Use sources that check documents, such as supplier networks that review trade licences and VAT registrations, and confirm the details yourself on the UAE National Economic Register and the Federal Tax Authority's TRN check. On Korrway, a Verified badge means Korrway has reviewed the supplier's trade licence and TRN.

How do I find wholesale suppliers in Dubai?

Start with the trade shows and associations for your sector, ask businesses you know who they buy from, and search Google Maps for wholesalers in trading districts such as Deira. Ask for a trade licence and a sample before you commit.

How many suppliers should I compare?

Three to five for most purchases. That is enough for real competition without making the comparison unmanageable or putting suppliers off with very long odds.

Should I buy from a local supplier or import directly?

Local suppliers cost more per unit but deliver faster, in smaller quantities, with easier returns and VAT handled locally. Importing can be cheaper for large, repeat volumes but adds minimum order quantities, longer lead times, shipping, customs duty and quality risk.

Is it free to find suppliers on Korrway?

The supplier network is part of Korrway for buyers, so you search it from your Korrway workspace. For suppliers, joining the network is free.
